GALLERY: Sign Writing For Eastlea Community School Newham, East London

Eastlea Community School underwent an extensive redevelopment under the Building Schools for the Future programme, transforming the site into a modern, campus-style learning environment. When the new architecture called for signage that could match its scale and spirit, the school turned to Glyphics to bring a creative touch to the design.

We delivered the project in two parts: three days installing precision-cut stainless-steel lettering across the school’s external facades, followed by another three days of hand-painted typography directly onto the exterior walls. The mix of durable metalwork and expressive brushstrokes created a visual language that balanced permanence with personality.

As work progressed, the scope grew to include a large hand-painted compass rose on the concrete forecourt – a symbolic nod to direction, learning and aspiration – alongside plans for matching internal signage that carried the same confident tone throughout the building.

From industrial-scale fabrication to the delicacy of paint on render, every element was designed to feel both robust and human. The result is a cohesive signage scheme that ties craftsmanship to education, giving Eastlea’s students and staff a daily reminder of the values their environment was built to inspire.
